My typical day scored by Twin Cities radio goes something like this. I start with a little bit of the Current http://www.thecurrent.org between 5 and 6:30AM. There's always something new, something mellow and I like getting the little snippet of news headlines from Oak & Riley. Then I switch over to the Dave Ryan in the Morning Show on KDWB http://kdwb.iheart.com/onair/the-dave-ryan-show-53769/ I like the complete ridiculousness of it and the easy, natural vibe of Dave, Steve-O and Falen's chemistry—perfect to get the day going. After that, I'm back to the Current. The variety and focus on local music is fantastic. I find myself constantly pulling out my phone to "shazam" and store away the songs for later purchase. On the days when I really need to quiet my mind or when I'm cooking and eating dinner, I like to switch to Jazz 88 http://jazz88.mpls.k12.mn.us/home. I was doing just this a couple of Sundays ago after feeling especially wound up and stumbled upon something wonderful—full-on, Spanish-language, happy music. I had no idea I would fall in love with it, after initially being bummed that the standard jazz wasn't on. I didn't even care that I had no idea what the words meant. The music took me over, made me smile and there may have been a bit of a shimmy situation going on. Pure fun. I'm happy to say that I found it again this past Sunday and will continue to listen. We are so fortunate to have so many great radio options here—high quality, eclectic and informative.
